Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I have my filter cleaned?
Every 3-6 months for cartridge filters, depending on debris load and pool usage. DE filters should be fully torn down 1-2 times per year. Care Club members get quarterly filter cleans included.
What's the difference between a backwash and a filter clean?
Backwashing reverses water flow to flush out loose debris — it's a quick maintenance step. A filter clean is a full teardown where cartridges are removed and chemically cleaned, or DE grids are individually hosed and inspected. Much more thorough.
How do I know when my filter needs cleaning?
Monitor your filter pressure gauge. When it reads 8-10 PSI above your clean baseline, it's time. Also watch for reduced water flow, cloudy water, or debris not being captured effectively.
